FAQs

Are chiropractic adjustments safe?

Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of most back and neck problems. Spinal adjustments are extremely safe when performed by a licensed chiropractor.

Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort because minimal force and gentle pressure are used. In fact, most patients feel relief immediately following treatment. Any reported soreness after an initial adjustment has been described as similar to that associated with starting a new exercise program. Drinking plenty of water, using an ice pack, and engaging in light stretching after your first visit can help ease any discomfort and promote healing.

What is the popping sound I hear when the doctor performs a chiropractic adjustment?

The popping sound is simply the release of a gas bubble that forms as your joint surface moves.

Can I see a chiropractor if I am pregnant?

Many pregnant women find that chiropractic adjustments improve the pregnancy experience and make delivery easier. Adjustments are adapted to accommodate the stage of pregnancy and the unique needs of each patient.

I was in a car accident and I don’t have health insurance. Can I still be treated for an auto injury?

Yes. In Oregon, auto insurance will pay for your medical bills in full, regardless of who is at fault for the collision. Oregon auto insurance policies carry a personal injury protection clause of at least $15,000 per person, per vehicle. If you were not driving the vehicle, the driver’s auto insurance will cover your medical bills. You do not need a referral to see a chiropractor.

I was injured on the job (workers compensation injury); do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. Under Oregon law, a Doctor of Chiropractic can be your attending physician for 60 days or 18 treatments, whichever comes first. Depending on your individual injury, you can be prescribed massage therapy, which is also covered by the insurance. As long as your claim is accepted, accrued medical bills will be paid in full by insurance.

I have Medicare, can I still be seen for chiropractic care?

In our office unfortunately we cannot bill your Medicare insurance as we have no contract to bill for Medicare. We can always set you up as a self-pay/cash patient and we can provide you a receipt and you can self submit to your insurance to get reimbursement from your health insurance, provided that they allow for reimbursement for chiropractic care.

What does “undress to your level of comfort” mean?

You will be draped with linens to preserve your modesty and for warmth in accordance to the law during your massage. Some people prefer to be nude, while others are more comfortable leaving their undergarments or some of their clothes on. Your massage will be given how you are most comfortable.

Why drink water after Massage body work?

Fluid surrounds all your cells and without proper hydration, muscle cells can bind together, causing pain. Massage improves circulation of your body’s fluids. Inadequate hydration prevents toxins in your body from being eliminated. Ensure you are hydrated to get the best results from your massage.
